Ridge Creek Bording School provides support and counseling services for students with physical and sexual abuse issues. Often times issues related to abuse can be hidden deep within, presenting themselves as anger, defiance, and a need for control. Ridge Creek School works with students to remove their walls and masks and come to the realization that they have the strength necessary to work through these past abuse issues.
Academic Issues
Ridge Creek School works with students possessing a range of academic issues, from lack of motivation/belief in their ability, through specific and non-specific learning differences and disorders. Small class sizes of 10:1 allow teachers the opportunity for more individual attention and monitoring of student understanding and progress. Teachers are skilled at instructing utilizing different teaching methods that reach those who are visual, auditory, as well as tactile learners. Additionally, all students participate in a daily study hall, in which they have teacher assistance with homework, assignments, and study skills. Alcohol Abuse
Ridge Creek School provides assessment and intervention services for students suffering from alcohol abuse and alcohol dependence. Identified students will participate in on campus psycho-education groups in addition to off campus Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) groups.

All students are provided an initial assessment utilizing the SASSI (Substance Abuse Subtle Screening Inventory), after which students are assigned to different levels of treatment services. Students will participate in psycho-educational groups as well as on and off campus 12 Step Meetings through AA (Alcoholics Anonymous), NA (Narcotics Anonymous), and Ala-Non (for family members of alcoholics). Additionally students will complete step work specially designed for adolescents, however based on the proven 12 step model.

Additionally, theme groups occur on a weekly basis addressing issues such as Adoption, Attachment, and Abandonment.

Asperger's
Ridge Creek School provides a structured and supportive environment which is ideal for students diagnosed with Asperger's Disorder and other Pervasive Developmental Disorders on the Autism Spectrum. Ridge Creek School facilitates weekly themed groups in areas such as Social Skills, Organizational Skills, Healthy Relationships, and Boys and Girls Group covering a wide range of gender specific topics.
Bipolar Disorder
Ridge Creek School provides a structure, that although may seem rigid at times, provides a sense of calm and predictability that is often comforting to those suffering from Bipolar Disorder. The small class sizes, group structure, and overall feel of the program provide students with the ability to learn new effective coping skills. Ridge Creek Bording School contracts with Adolescent Psychiatrists, who are on campus weekly to provide medication management services. Additionally, students have the ability to participate in theme groups with topics such as anxiety management, stress management, and mood disorders.
Borderline Personality
Ridge Creek School works with a wide variety of adolescents, including those with borderline personality traits or disorder. The structure of Ridge Creek School, expectations, and peer culture provide the reinforcement needed to work on these behavioral patterns that deviate from those that are normally socially acceptable. Additionally, students with personality issues participate in weekly DBT (Dialectical Behavioral Therapy), which combines standard cognitive behavioral techniques for emotion regulation and reality testing with concepts of mindful awareness, distress tolerance, and acceptance largely derived from meditative practice.
Bulimia

Depression
Ridge Creek School provides a therapeutic structure, which affords students many opportunities for therapeutic and recreational participation. Group therapy occurs at minimum three times per week, and each student participates in an hour a week of individual or family therapy. With counseling staff present Monday through Friday and clinical on-call staff available 24 hours a day, students are provided the services needed to work through their emotional issues. The small class sizes, group structure, and overall feel of the program provide students with the ability to learn new effective coping skills. Ridge Creek School contracts with Adolescent Psychiatrists, who are on campus weekly to provide medication management services. Additionally, students have the ability to participate in theme groups with topics such as anxiety management, stress management, and mood disorders.

Oppositional Defiant Disorder
Ridge Creek School provides students with a highly structured, yet normalized setting. This approach allows students to make changes internally, rather than through conditioning. Students are provided with set expectations and agreements, which they are required to respect and adhere to, while understanding that they have free will. Ridge Creek staff provide boundaries and consistency amongst the expectations and consequence of negative behavior. Behavior modification is done through the application of both positive and negative consequences for positive and negative behaviors, much as they would at home. This normalized approach provides students with a greater chance of transferring their behavioral change home and having long lasting results.
Parent Child Relational Issues
Ridge Creek School provides weekly parent communication with both the student and the student's counselor. Parent participation is a critical component of the program, and probably the number one indicator of the students future success. Student's will have the opportunity to work on family issues throughout their individual and group therapy sessions, as will parents, through their weekly updates and family therapy sessions. Additionally, Ridge Creek School hosts quarterly Family Workshops, in which parents participate in a 2 day workshop, including parent trainings, informational sessions, family therapy, and didactic sessions, and initiative games followed by off campus Parent Child visits, when appropriate.
Self Esteem
Ridge Creek Bording School provides a wide variety structured and supportive recreational programming. This programming includes Ropes Course and Outdoor Therapeutic Program Activities, designed to enhance self-esteem, communication, and leadership, as well as a variety of competitive athletics where every student makes the team. Additionally, students are provided a variety of clubs designed to enhance a sense of belonging, ownership, and leadership and on campus recreational activities in which pro-social skills are reinforced. Truancy
At Ridge Creek School, students do not have the opportunity to isolate or chose not to attend class. Students will begin to learn the importance of education, and the skills necessary to succeed.
